Week 3: , Kinds of Social Scientific Research: Qualitative, Quantitative, Mix method
After the research topic has been chosen, the next task is to formulate a specific research question or hypothesis. Here we require to differentiate between descriptive and explanatory studies. Before conducting research on any topic, the students need to understand fundamental terms and concepts related to the broad field of research. In this lesson, students will be guided about the basic Concepts of Mass Media Research including Construct, Concept, Variable, Unit of Analysis, Hypothesis, Conceptualization, and operationalization. The aim of this lesson is to develop an acquaintance of the students with all the major terms to be confronted in the later part of the research methodology course.
