Week 8: Electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation, Anaerobicrespiration
The ETC is known as respiratory chain. It is the collection of 7 molecules which are arranged in an orderly manner in the inner membrane of mitochondria which are NAD, FAD, Co enzyme Q ( Abiquinone), cytochrome b, c , a and a3 . The respiratory chain receive the hydrogen by the oxidation of different substrate. The hydrogen free the electrons and move in the form of proton and electron to the ETC in a preceding manner and ease to liberate the free energy for the synthesis of ATP and the final acceptor of the hydrogen is molecular oxygen and result in the formation of water.
