Week 11: Introduction, aims and applications of ecology

Introduction:

The study of relationship of organisms to their environment is called ecology. OR

Study of ecosystem is called ecology.

In this relationship organisms are directly affected by environmental similarly activity of organism try to change environment.

Aims:

The aim of ecology is to study the factors which control the number and location of the organism.

There are different levels at which interaction may have to be studied 

  1. Organismal ecology (Autecology or physiological ecology)
  2. Population ecology 
  3. Community 
  4. Bones
  5. Ecosystem

Applications:

The humans always remain interested in other organism and their environment. So, the application  of ecology having a broad base in which we have to study the different aspect 

  1. Agriculture
  2. Forestory
  3. Wild life management 
  4. Fishery and aqua culture
  5. Range land management 
  6. Water shed management
  7. Conservation of soil
  8. Control of pollution
