Week 10: Energy balance in aerobic and anaerobic respiration, Respiratory quotients
The gross production of energy during the anaerobic respiration in glycolysis oxidative phase is 4 ATP while during preparatory phase 2ATP are utilized. So, the net gain of ATP in an anaerobic respiration is 2 ATP. in case of aerobic respiration the gross production of ATP in eukaryotic cell is 40 ATP while 4 ATP are utilized. So, the net gain is 36 ATP. In case of prokaryotic the gross production of ATP is 40 ATP while 2 ATP are used. So, the net gain is 38 ATP.
