Week 13: Light and Temperature. Quality of light, diurnal and seasonal variations. Ecophysiological responses.
Temperature is the most important ecological factor. It regulates physiological processes of plant.
Sunlight energy empowered the entire world which reaches on the earth in the form of electromagnetic waves. The solar spectrum is divisible into visible and invisible spectra. The visible spectra play role in photosynthesis while invisible spectra has two parts
- UV radiation
- Infrared Ray's
These waves pass most of heat to earth.
Ecophysiological response of light are photosynthesis opening and closing of stomata, photoperiodism, development of chlorophyll and germination of seed. While ecophysiological response of temperature include transpiration , photosynthesis, respiration, germination of seed and sprearding of diseased.
