Week 11: Research Process

Research process in social sciences contains a series of closely related activities which has to be carried out by a researcher. Media and Communication research, like other social science resaerch consists of several stages. The researcher must first choose a topic to investigate and then become familiar with prior research on the topic. Once appropriate data are gathered and analyzed, the researcher can then draw appropriate conclusions. This lesson  describes  various stages of the research process described by Wimmer and Dominick (2011) and  discusses in detail the three steps including selection of problem; literature review; and statement of hypothesis and research question.
