Succus entericus
Introduction :
The small intestine secretion is known as succus entericus.
As mentioned in previous lessons, secretions from different parts of GIT mix in the small intestine for the final and complete processing ( digestion) of food.
The long length of the small intestine, special structures in its histology and the time period food stays here, work collectively to complete digestion and mostly at the level of upper 1/3rd of the small intestine.
Learning objectives :
- Describe the biochemical composition and functions of the intestinal secretion
- Explain the benefits and significance of the long length and folds of the intestinal surface
