Testes, Dutus deference, Urethra, Penis, Accessory glands (prostate, Bulbourethral and Cowpers)

 

HORSE           Long axis of the testicles is horizontal

Epididymus is attached on the dorsal border of the testes

Corona and column glandis present

OX                  Long axis of the testes is vertical

Epididymus is attached on the caudal border of the testes

Glans penis is long and twisted, has galae glandis

Sigmoid flexure is present

 

 

 

 

 

THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

Ovaries, Fallopian tubes, Uterus, Vagina, Vulva and Mammary glands

MARE             Ovaries are bean shaped

Ovulation fossa is present

Broad ligament attaches with the sub lumbar region

Uterus is "T" shaped, horns are nearly straight

Placenta is diffused type

Both dorsal and ventral fornixes are present

Two mammary glands in prepubic region are present

Teats have 2-4 canals

 

COW               Ovaries are oval in shape

Ovulation can occur at any point on the surface of the ovary

Ovulation fossa is absent

Broad ligament attaches with the lateral body wall

Uterine horns are "S" shaped

Placenta is cotiledonary type, cotyledons are convex

Only dorsal fornix is present

Teats have only one canal

Two mammary glands with two quarters each are present.
