Learning outcome:

After successful completion of this week students will  be able to

  • find magnetic field above the center of current carrying circular loop, polygon, square loop
  • find the force on a square loop placed near an infinite straight wire & on the triangular loop due to nearby current carrying wire
  • derive the relation of curl of B due to straight line current

Lesson Plan:

Lecture 1: 

  • Magnetic field above the center of current carrying circular loop (Example 5.6)
  • Magnetic field above the center of current carrying square loop (Problem 5.8)
  • Magnetic field above the center of current carrying n sided polygon (Problem 5.8)

Lecture 2:

  • Find the force on a square loop placed near an infinite straight wire.(Problem 5.9)
  • Find the force on the triangular loop due to nearby current carrying wire (Problem 5.10)
  • Assignment: Problem 5.11, Problem 5.12
