Week 10: Problem 5.4, Problem 5.5, Problem 5.6, Example 5.5
Learning outcome:
After successful completion of this week students will be able to
- find the magnetic field a distance s from a long straight wire carrying a steady current I
- to calculate surface current density of a wire having uniformly distributed current on the surface of wire
- to calculate surface current density of a rotating charged sphere
- to calculate the magnetic field due to current carrying square loop
s:Lesson Plan:
Lecture 1:
Find the force on a square loop (side a), lying in the yz plane in the magnetic field which is along x axis and centered at the origin , if it carries a current I(Problem 5.4)
Lecture 2:
Surface current density of a wire having uniformly distributed current on the surface of wire (Problem 5.5)
Surface current density of a rotating sphere (Problem 5.6)
Lecture 3:
- Find the magnetic field a distance s from a long straight wire carrying a steady current I (Example 5.5)
- Force between two parallel currents
