Week 10: Camera Mounts & Movements
Because television cameras differ considerably in size and weight, various camera mounts are needed for ease and efficiency of operation. For example, we may find that a camera mount for the studio has to support not only a heavy camera with its large zoom lens but also the added weight of a bulky teleprompting device. In contrast, most ENG/EFP cameras are designed to be carried on the operator's shoulder. Similarly, some camcorders are so small that we can hold and operate them with one
hand. But there are many production situations in which the ENG/EFP camera and the small camcorder should be mounted on a tripod rather than carried by the operator. This lesson discusses standard camera mounts and movements, examines the basics of camera mounts and special camera mounts.
