Week 13: First-Order Circuits | Step Response of RC and RL Circuits

In the previous lesson, we have studied first-order source free RC and RL Circuits. The second way of exciting first-order circuits is by independent sources. In this lesson, the independent sources, we will consider are dc sources.

The step response is the response of the circuit due to a sudden application of a dc voltage or current source. When the dc source of an RC or RL circuit is suddenly applied, the voltage or current source can be modeled as a step function, and the response is known as a step response.
