Week 5: Register n Genre
The 1990s have seen the rapid expansion of the use of genre analysis in educational contexts. In the aim of maintaining a dialogue between theory and application during this growth period, unities and distinctions between genre analysis and register analysis as practices, and between genre and register as constructs are critically overviewed, and issues for application of analytical practice to pedagogy are outlined.
This section introduces Genre and Register, and similarities and differences between them, as both are situation-based varieties.
