This course is designed to provide a common language and set of perspectives for students who may choose to pursue both curricular and extracurricular community-focused activity further—as undergraduates, and as active citizens

Major objectives of this course are:

1. Have become familiar with the most important community development strategies, their histories and the controversies surrounding each;

2. Have grown more knowledgeable about rural & urban issues, and particularly about the local communities;

3. Have examined and communicated their own community building choices and commitments
