DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

The basic objective of this course is to prepare students to

  • Describe the external feature of insect head, thorax and abdomen.
  • Compare feature of different insect orders

COURSE CONTENTS

THEORY:

Introduction; integument and its derivatives; insect body regions and segmentation; comparative morphology of head, thorax, abdomen and their appendages in different insect orders; endoskeleton, internal organ systems, exocrine and endocrine organs in different insect orders.

PRACTICAL:

Structure of integument and its derivatives; comparative external and internal morphology of different insect orders. Preparation of temporary mounts of external and internal body organs of different insect orders
