DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
The basic objective of this course is to prepare students to
The practical portion is planned to direct students towards dissection of insect external and internal organs. Students will perform dissection of different insect mouthparts and their external features. Student will also learn to draw those characters present on insect body.
COURSE CONTENTS
THEORY:
Introduction; integument and its derivatives; insect body regions and segmentation; comparative morphology of head, thorax, abdomen and their appendages in different insect orders; endoskeleton, internal organ systems, exocrine and endocrine organs in different insect orders.
PRACTICAL:
Structure of integument and its derivatives; comparative external and internal morphology of different insect orders. Preparation of temporary mounts of external and internal body organs of different insect orders
