The course has been designed to enable the students to understand and analys the political economy of Pakistan, reviewing its historical aspects. It includes the main theories, policies and economic concepts, which explain economic development or reasons to underdevelopment. The study of political economy of Pakistan has various dimensions over the last seventy years. This course is an attempt to understand the basic issues of political economy, including impact of production on politics, issues of class, labour, poverty, agriculture and industrial concentration and ownership. It also covers economic policies and state-society relations in relation to politics and the economy.

 

Course Objectives

1. To introduce students to some of the important debates within the subject of

Political Economy in relation to Pakistan

2. To understand the history of Pakistan’s economic policies and economic development in Pakistan.
