The aim of this course is to develop a solid theoretical and mathematical background in the Smapling techinque, Statistical hypothesis and regression analysis that's helps in predicting and forecasting the results, also the applicable knowledge about statistics, which can apply in food science. The course deals with the basic concepts of sampling, requirements of a good sample, determination of sample size and conceptual formation of sampling techniques especially for simple random sampling and stratified random sampling. It's also focus on the testing of hypothesis related to single population mean, two means, analysis of varaince, concepts of regression and correlation.

By completing this course the student will learn to perform the following:

1)implementation of sampling techinques in their practile life.

2) Appilaction of correlation and fitting of regression model  with respect to food science data.

3) Perform Test of Hypothesis as well as calculate the confidence interval for a population parameter for a single sample and two sample cases. Understand the concepta of one way and two-way anova.

4) The Chi-Square test for Goodness of Fit.

The recommended books for this study is:

  1. Introduction to Statistical Theory Part-II by Sher Muhammad Chudary and Dr. Shaid Kamal
  2. Statistical method and data analysis by Dr. Faquir Muhammad
