- Week 1: Vector Analysis, addition of vectors –Graphical method, adding vectors by components, Scalar and vector triple products, Divergence, Gradient, Divergence theorem, Stoke’s theorem.
- Week 2: Particle Dynamics , Force , Newtons’s First law, 2nd law and 3rd law of motion, weight-the force of gravity and normal force , problems. System of Particles,
- Week 3: Two particles Systems, Center of mass. Linear momentum, Law of conservation of linear momentum, Work and energy in system of Particles.
- Week: 4. Relationship between linear and angular variables, Scalar and Vector form, Kinetic energy of rotation, Moment of Inertia, Parallel axis and Perpendicular axis theorems. Problems.
- Week: 5. Determination of moment of Inertia of various Shapes, Rotational dynamics of rigid bodies and their equations, rolling without slipping. Problems.
- Week: 6. Angular velocity, conservation of angular momentum, Relation between torque and angular momentum, spinning top with examples. Problems.

- Week 9: Work , Workdone by constant force , Workdone by varying force,Power and Energy , Kinetic energy and work energy principle, kinetic energy at very high speed
- Week: 10. Gravitational effect with its mathematical treatment, Gravitational P.E, escape velocity. Motion of Planets and Kepler’s Laws, Motion of Satellites,
- Week: 11. Fluid Statics, Surface Tension, Viscosity with examples. Variation of pressure in fluid at rest and with height in atmosphere, Poiseulle’s Law.
- Week: 12. Elastic properties of matter, Physical basis of elasticity, tension Compression and Shearing, Elastic Modulus, Elastic limit. Types of elasticity,
- Week: 13. Inertial and non- inertial frame, Postulates of relativity, Lorentz Transformation, with explanation (time, length, mass, velocity). Problems.
- Week: 14. Mass energy relation and its importance, Relativistic momentum, Relativistic energy. Lorentz invariants (Prove equation). Problems.
- Week 15: Waves and Oscillations, Energy transported by waves. Harmonic Oscillations, travelling waves, wave equation, principle of superposition.
- Week 16: Waves in Physical Media, Resonance, Oscilations, Simple Harmonic motion , Energy in the simple harmonic oscilator , simple harmonic motion related to uniform circular motion .
- Week 17: Simple pendulum, Physical pendulum, Torsion pendulum, Damped harmonic motion, forced vibrations; Resonance. Interference, Diffraction, Polarization.
