Week 6-7 Listening skills and its types

In this topic i discussed about the listening skills. Listening means to hear and interpret the sounds in the communication process. It is the ability which underpins all the positive human relations. 

Research work: It declares that adults spend about 29.5% of their waking hours in listening. At work places, 32.7%. While on the other hand speaking takes upto 25.8% and writing takes 22.6%.

Poor listening cause innumerable mistakes. So one must try to be a good listener. In the process of listening, you decode the message, ask questions and clarify the things. It helps to negotiate and persuade, also it makes your communication conflict free. 

In order to be a good listener, you will have to be aware of yourself, your own traits and abilities. It is an important tool which saves time. Ask questions to yourself, what is the purpose of listening?Keep the body language, eye contact in manner. 

Active listener, devote his ears to listening with concerntration and it involve all senses. They are more able to absorb information that is being shared, they learn more, understand and grasp the gardens of knowledge.
