WEEK 30: Physical Environment

Environmental injuries and illnesses can happen in home and work settings. The variety and severity of these injuries might require the clinician medicine, emergency medicine, and toxicology. Diseases of thermoregulation are hypothermia and hyperthermia. Whole body vibration (WBV) is a generic term used when vibrations (mechanical oscillations) of any frequency are transferred to the human body. Humans are exposed to vibration through a contact surface that is in a mechanical vibrating state. Humans are generally exposed to many different forms of vibration in their daily lives. This could be a driver's seat, a moving train platform, through a power tool, a training platform, or one of countless other devices.[1] It is a potential form of occupational hazard, particularly after years of exposure. Elevated workplace or environmental noise can cause hearing impairment, tinnitus, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, annoyance, and sleep disturbance. ... Noise exposure has been known to induce noise-induced hearing loss, tinnitus, hypertension, vasoconstriction, and other cardiovascular adverse effects
