Week 1:Simple linear regression and pearson's correlation

The statistical techniques presented in this chapter are used to measure the strength and direction of the association between variables measured at the interval-ratio level.

By the end of this chapter, you will be able to:
1. Interpret a scattergram.
2. Calculate and interpret slope (b), Y-intercept (a), and Pearson’s r and r2.
3. Find and explain the least-squares regression line and then use it to predict the values of Y.
4. Explain the concepts of the total, explained, and unexplained variance.
5. Use regression and correlation techniques to analyze and describe a bivariate relationship.
