forest or natural resource management plan is a specific statement of the objectives you have for your land, followed by a series of activities that will take place in order to meet those objectives. In essence, your plan is a "road map" to guide you from where you are to where you want to be. so management plan can be defined as it is a written document aiming at the continuity of policy and action both prescribing and continuing the basic operation to obtain the desired objective from the forest estate for a specific period of time according to the current forest policy or national forest policy. The forest is a valuable asset and a comprehensive management plan is required. The written plan of management (working plan) is the principal planning document at the forest level. Its brings together all the facts relevant to the management of forest, lays down the objectives to be attained, evaluates the various feasible ways of attaining them, prepares as action program for the period of the plan to further the attainment of the objectives in the manner decided on, and prescribes a control to ensure that the plan prescriptions are carried out or the reason for not carrying them out are brought to light so that corrective measures can be adopted. Objectives of studying this exclusive practical course are:

  1. Forest management is the practical application of comprehensive knowledge regarding the social, scientific and economic. It embraces the entire gamut of activities which concern the organization of production from forests to achieve specific goals. Forest management must heavily emphasize the collection of facts bearing on the management of the forest estate, and their analysis and interpretation in a valid manner. For sufficient reliable information, the forest may be managed without conventional formulae, but in their absence, no formulae would suffice. The enunciation of clear-cut objectives is of paramount importance, given below:

  2. Essential is the thorough awareness about forest property along with its structure, composition, production capacities, volume and increment of growing stock, socio-economic environment, and political environment, etc.
  3. To impart in-depth knowledge about forest inventories and methodologies.
  4. To provide guidelines in the preparation of working plans which prescribe the details of the treatment to be applied to the forest during the next ten to twenty years.
  5. After the field exposure, the student compiles the data and write the working plan in the standard format of Pakistan that Part I and Part II of the working plan.
