Introduction:

The region of Pakistan housed one of the ancient civilizations of the world.  The two major ancient civilizations of the area, were the Indus Valley Civilization (Harappa and Moenjodaro 4 BC) and the Gandhara Civilization (500 BC to 10 AD). The intriguing record of these civilization, after the archealogical discoveries in 20th century is very important. The present course tries to look into the history of these civilizations while covering various aspects.

Learning Outcome: 

This course will introduce students to the Indus valley and Gandhara civilizations. Students will learn the historical geography, the way of life of the people such as the settlement patterns. Art and Architecture and religious beliefs and the rise and fall of the civilization, Students will be able to; identify the location of the Indus Valley and Gandhara civilizations.
