Introduction and Objectives:

This course aims at introducing students to the study of connotative and denotative meaning. In doing so, it aims to acquaint students with current concerns in linguistic Pragmatics. By the end of the course, the students will be familiar with a range of issues and debates in contemporary Semantics and Pragmatics and be able to apply the knowledge of these to a variety of problems in the investigation of language use.
