- Week-1: 1. Plant Growth Regulators: Major natural hormones and their synthetic Analogues. Bioassay, structure, biosynthesis, receptors.
- Week-2: Auxin ,Gibberellins, Cytokinins, Abscisic acid, Ethylene, Polyamines, Brassinosteriods, Jasmonates, and Salicylic acid. Lab.-1
- Week-3: 2. Water Relations: SPAC- an overview. Structure of water. Physico-chemical properties. Water in the soil and its potentials. Water in cell components. Lab.-2.
- Week-4: Absorption of water in plants. Cell water relations terminology. Hoflerdiagram - analysis of change in turgor, water and osmotic potential with changes in cell volume. Lab.-3.
- Week-5: Modulus of elasticity coefficient; Hydraulic conductivity. Osmoregulation, Methods for measurement of water, osmotic and turgor potentials- Pressure chamber, . Lab.-4.
- Week-6: 3. Plant Mineral Nutrition: Inorganic composition of plant and soil. Absorption of mineral nutrients - Effect of soil pH on nutrient availability. Ion traffic into root. Lab.-5.
- Week-7: The nature of membrane carriers, channels and electrogenic pumps. Passive and active (primary and secondary) transports and their energetic. Lab.-6.
- Week-8: Mid Term Exam.
- Week-9: Essential and beneficial elements-their functions and deficiency symptoms in plants. Fertilizers and their significance in Agriculture.
- Week-10: 4. Phytochromes: Discovery of phytochromes & cryptochromes. Physico-chemical properties. Distribution in species, cells and tissues role in biological processes.
- Week-11: Phytochromes and gene expression.
- Week-12: 5. Control of Flowering
- Week-13: Role of photoperiodism in flowering-------ABC Model
- Week-14: 6. Signal transduction in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. & Dormancy;
- Week-15:8. Plant Movements; Tropic movement-phototropism, gravitropism and their mechanism. Nastic movements.
