Metamerism and tagmatization; the exoskeleton

Metamerism produces specialization in regions of the body for specific functions. The regional specialization is called tagmatizafion. In arthropods,, body regions are called tagmata, tagmata are specialized for feeding and sensors perception, locomotion and visceral functions. Segmentation, also called metamerism, or metameric segmentation, in zoology, the condition of being constructed of a linear series of repeating parts, each being a metamere (body segment, or somite) and each being formed in sequence in the embryo, from anterior to posterior.
