Simple lipids

Triacyl glycerols are simple lipids in which glycerol backbone is esterified with three fatty acids.

It is non polar soluble in organic solvent and insoluble in water.

Triacyl glycerols are hydrolysed to glycerol and fatty acids at 200 0 C.On boiling with alcohol it produces soap.
