logical basis of hypothesis testing
week 9, date 3 & 4/12/2020: lecture 1 & 2
The logic of hypothesis testing avoids these problems. The basic idea is to avoid having to reason about the real world by setting up a hypothetical world that is completely understood. The observed patterns of the data are then compared to what would be generated in the hypothetical world.
