Phase 1
Introduction:
Capstone Project is a 6 credit hours subject comprises of two phases. Phase one is the part of seveth semester, where as in 8th semester second phase conducts.
Phase 1
Following activities held in phase 1 of Capstone Project.
Team Formation:
The first step is group formation. This step can prove to be a practical scale to gauge your group. Each team could be minimum of two students and maximum of three students. Mostly students formulate teams by themselves considering common interest like application area, domain interest etc. Each team must have a team lead, selected by all team members with concensus.
Picking the Supervisor
Teams are free to choose supervisor. University has no restriction on that. Even team cam opt more than one supervisor and second supervisor could be from outside university. Most of the students intend to pick the adviser based on their likeness. But still project advisor recommends to pick supervisors who can guide them in the right direction.
Choosing Your Project Topic
Most tricky part of undertaking a final year project is the project selection. After the team formation and selection of supervisor, project supervisor and project manager (class incharge) helps teams to finalize project topic. Teams are free to choose either application development area or research area. All these activities must be completed within first two weeks.
Developing Your Project Proposal
Project teams need to submit the project proposal before practically working on the relevant project. The project proposal is the proposal that involves the main topic of the project team’s aim to work on, its scope in the industry, major applications and how this project could help them to grow and excel in relevant technical field.
Planning Your Project
Once project proposal’s approved, teams have to make extensive plans as how to go about it since they are the foundation of a proposed research. The plan should cover every aspect of application development or research work and what it requires.
Software Requirement Specification
Next important milestones is the submission of SRS.
First of all teams work on overall system description including scope, user characteristics, operating environment and system constraints. Another important aspect is to work on interface requirements including Hardware Interfaces, Software Interfaces and Communications Interfaces. Most important part of SRS is to work on functional requirements as well as non-functional requirements.
Note: Attached are all relevant templates having more details and each team have to finalize the contents of each delieverable with consultation with supervisor.
