Week 01-02: Determination of the Cauchy’s constants using Spectrometer.

 

Aims of the Experiment:

  • Measurement of Angle of the Prism and Angle of Minimum Deviation using a spectrometer.

  • To determine the Refractive Index of Prism material for prominent colours (Wavelength) of Mercury light with the help of Spectrometer.

  • Determination of the variation of the Refractive Index of the Prism with Wavelength and to verify Cauchy's dispersion formula.

  • Measurement of Wavelength of Mercury light and to determine the Cauchy's Constant.
