Description and Objectives :This course of studies is introduced to make students understand prose developments and literary expressions combined with critical perspective during the 19th and 20th centuries. The objective is to familiarize students with a wide range of functional and nonfunctional styles in English prose writers. The writings of J. S. Mill, Thomas Carlyle, Bertrand Russell and Edward Said are analyzed in relation to the contemporary thought and philosophy.
Intended Course Outcome:
The students will be acquainted with a variety of prose writings and themes invaded in them. It will help in developing in students a critical insight and comprehension of factual and analytical perspective through selected text from the prose writers in the syllabus. The course thus enables the students to explore themes in prose text and by oral and written communication skills they are enabled to write and elaborate ideas fluently.
