Introduction:

This Subject is based on Fundamental Statistics.Statistics is important to mass communication because it helps to estimate, predict, test hypothesis and make wise decisions. Statistics in mass communication studies does not only help present data but most importantly to interpret such data. The largest benefit of Statistics in Communications  is that you can simulate, with pretty high confidence - behavioral patterns to situations that you don't have at hand.Statistical knowledge helps you use the proper methods to collect the data, employ the correct analyses, and effectively present the results. Statistics is a crucial process behind how we make discoveries in science, make decisions based on data, and make predictions.Statistics is a datum that can be represented numerically.  Statistics is also the science of collecting, organizing, processing, analysing and interpreting data. Through statistics we get meaningful information out of massive amount of data for communication and research. .With the knowledge of statistics, mass communicators can adequately interpret raw data to their audience.

Course Pre-requisite:

Statistics is a topic within applied mathematics. Students are encouraged to refresh their basic mathematical skills prior to the course, or alternatively, to be prepared to spend some extra effort on mathematics during the course.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will summarize data visually and numerically.
  • Students will create quantitative models to solve real world problems in appropriate contexts.
  • Students will clearly communicate quantitative ideas both orally and in writing to a range of audiences.
