Objective:

To enable participants to communicate clearly and with impact, by improving their verbal and non-verbal communication style, as well as enhancing interpersonal skills. Communicating effectively will soon seem effortless!

By the end of this one-day course, the participants will have:

  • Recognised different styles of communication and how to improve understanding and build rapport with others.
  • Reflected on different methods of communication and decided when each is most suitable.
  • Appreciated the role of body language and voice tone in effective communication.
  • Communicated their message in an effective and engaging way for the recipient

COURSE CONTENTS:

  • Listening Skills
  • Listening to isolated sentences and speech extracts
  • Managing listening and overcoming listening barriers
  • Expressing opinions and oral synthesis of thoughts and ideas
  • Pronunciation Skills
  • Recognizing phonemes, phonemic symbols and syllabes, pronouncing words correctly
  • Understanding and practicing stress patterns and intonation patterns in simple sentence.
  • Comprehension skills
  • Reading strategies, summarizing,sequencing, interferencing, comparing and contrasting.
  • Drawing conclusion, Self questioni g, problem solving related to background knowledge
  • distinguishing between facts and ideas,finding main ideas and  supporting details.
  • Text organizational patterns investigating implied ideas,purpose and tone of the text.
  • Critical reading, SQ3R model.
  • Presentation skills,features and different types of presentation
  • patterns of introducing presentation
  • tactics of maintaining interest of audience
  • concluding a presentation, reccomendations.
