This course provides an introduction to methodology and major research methods relating to social sciences in general and social work in particular. The goal of this course is to acquaint students with basic approaches, concepts, issues, and tools of research. A variety of examples will be provided to help in gaining a better understanding of the methodology and specific research methods used in social work. Main objectives of the course are: • To develop an understanding of the basic framework of the research process. • To develop an understanding of various research designs and techniques. • To identify various sources of information for literature review and data collection. • To develop an understanding of the ethical dimensions of conducting applied research.
