INTRODUCTION TO COURSE

This course emphasizes on the fundamentals of freehand drawing techniques and skills, so that the techniques and concepts regarding drawing will be clear. The study of natural forms, line, perspective, lite and shade and proportion are added the content to enhance the observational skills.

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

Through the course, you will:

  • Gain a developing ability in drawing.
  • Show increased inventiveness in your approach to materials and tools.
  • Have an improved visual memory.
  • Have a greater understanding of what drawing is and might be.
  • Be more aware of the per formative and material aspects of drawing and their use within contemporary art practice.
  • Have more confidence in your potential as an artist and a growing sense of self-reliance.
  • Be able to decide on the nature and direction of your future studies and art practice.

Course Objectives:

To familiarize students with drawings of various objects and human body through exercises dealing with observation and enjoyable rendering of shapes, volume, tone balance, proportion and spatial relationship;

• To give local tone and texture of white and gray objects translated into colour.

  • Mid exam: 15

  • Course Assessments: The student has / has not:
  • There will be lectures of important content about 30 minutes – at the beginning of many classes.
  • Some lecture time will be used for critique, discussion of required reading or educational video shown, student’s presentation, and demonstration of various painting materials.
  • Required class assignments will be started in class and may be completed outside-of-class.  Additional out-of-class assignments, research and homework, may take approximately six hours per week and should be turned in for grading.
  • Students are expected to keep, and turn in for evaluation, a sketchbook for sketching, thumbnail sketching, planning, idea drafting and note.
  • Evaluation & Assessment:
  • Critiques at regular intervals (Please be aware that we will have class critiques in which Lecture Topic is shared and discussed.
  • Late assignments:

Assignments not submitted on the designated due date will be considered late.  Assignments grades will decrease by one full grade for each class the project is late. Assignments will not be accepted if missed due to an unexcused absence.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assigned homework with process work and specific schedules.
  • There will be Painting Projects. They are based on following directions given via this blog and in classroom demonstrations.
  • Marks will not be increase on behalf of any illegal action.
  • Class attendance policy:

All students must attend class regularly to gain maximum from the instructor. Each Class bear its own importance, the thing once taught will never repeated. Every day brings a new experience that helps to flourish you. Attendance is mandatory.  Arriving to class late and/or leaving early three times will count as one unexcused absence. To avoid unexcused absences, please consult with me before you miss class.
