The aim of this course is to explore the British History from 1688 to 1850. After the glorious revolution (1688), England, which had subsumed Wales in 16th century under Henry VIII, united with Scotland in 1707 to form a new sovereign state called Great Britain. Indusrial Revolution was another landmark in British History and it is believed that this revolution took place in the market, financed by the private capital. The minimal role of state was unique to Britain. The present course is an attempt to look into the emergence of of Britain as a colonial power through analysing the Course of History.
