Objectives:

  • To develop a perspective of cultural relativity through experience and introspection, and to be willing to evaluate one’s own cultural assumptions from that perspective.
  • To gain a working knowledge of the major theoretical and methodological concepts and controversies in the field of cross-cultural psychology.
  • To be able to integrate these ideas and apply them creatively to real-world situations and experiences.
  • To be able to sit with uncertainly and take intellectual risks in discussion with one’s peers and in service to others.

Learning outcomes:

  • Students will understand the variation among different cultures.
  • They will know how culture impacts the personality of an individual.
  • They will understand the similarities and differences in different cultures and will be able to conduct research in different cultures.
