INTRODUCTION
The course aims at introducing the Greek and Elizabethan drama to the students focusing upon the prescribed works as mentioned below.An attempt has been made to familiarize the students with major trends in dramatic art and popular themes dealt by the classical dramatists.The stuy will essentally focus upon the techniques of analyzing a paly so as to enable the students to carry out independent studyof other works of the respective ages which have not been included in the course
AIMS
The aims of this course are to:
i- enable the students to comprehend and evaluate the specific dramas in terms of themes, structures and underlying philosophies
ii- enable the students to comprehend and explain the prevalent trends in the dramatic art/techiniques being employed in the ages from which specific dramas are selected for this course.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end the course, the students will be to
i- explain/evaluate the themes/ philosophies, structures and characters of the specific plays.
ii- highlight the prevelant trends in the drama of the respective ages(Greek Drama+ Elizabethan Drama
