DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

Students will be involved in learning activities that generally prepare him/her to apply the economic and business principles involved in the organization, operation, and management of the farm, ranch, or agribusiness. Typical instructional activities include hands-on experiences with applying modern economic and business principles involved in the organization, operation, and management of agricultural businesses including the production and marketing of agricultural products and services and knowhow of new trends in international trade of agricultural commodities.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing the course, students will be well equipped with the basic concepts of Agribusiness and Trade.

 

COURSE CONTENTS

Definition, concepts, Important features and scope of Agribusiness Management, Elements and Functions of management; Forms of business organizations; Agribusiness financial management; Agricultural Marketing; Marketing channels, functionaries and margins; Role of agri. marketing in economic development; Agricultural marketing problems; The changing world and interdependence; Basis of trade; gains from trade; Concept of absolute and comparative advantage; pattern of trade;  Brief introduction of major trade agreements.
