INTRODUCTION;

Legal drafting is an important skill for lawyers - it involves learning how to draft various kinds of petitions to be filed in court, drafting contracts for clients, preparation of legal opinions or ‘legal memos’ (not moot court memos). These skills enable a lawyer to perform different kinds of billable work for clients and provide them value.

 

DESCRIPTION& OBJECTIVES

The skill to draft a plaint or memorandum of appeal is of great significance.  The art of drafting is mandatory to make the students successful lawyers. The subject of pleadings has been introduced to meet this end. It enables the students to how to draft a plaint and a statement both in civil and criminal cases.

There is no Specific Code or law regarding rules of Conveyancing. It enables the students to learn how to draft a conveyance showing clearly the intention of parties to the deed and there by contributing to avoid multiplicity of judicial process. Students will learn art of drafting documents whereby property is transferred, that forms an integral part of lawyers legal training.

                                              INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, it is expected that the student will be able to:

  1. Know fundamental principles of conveyancing.
  2. Know basic drafting skills that form an integral part of legal training as an advocate.
  3. Understand and implement the key ingredients of Law of Conveyancing in Civil matters
  4. Significance of Conveyancing.
  5. To learn basic Drafting skills
  6. Fundamentals of drafting
  7. Significance of Drafting in legal profession
  8. Case Presentation.
