Aims & Objectives

The aim of the course is to make the students understand language and its structures. The course will introduce the students to the aspects and domains of Linguistics as a subject. The course will further introduce the students with theoratical and practical aspects of the module as well as the integration of the knowledge acquired through the course contents in their understanding of the field. Furthemore, the course outlines the role of sub-fields of linguistics in every day life.

Learning Outcomes

After working on this module, the students would be able to utilize the acquired knowledge in their understanding and teaching of the language learning process. The students would be able further to explore the sub-fields of Linguistics for future persuits as the course lays the foundations for the basic understanding of the course. The students would also be able to master the key terms to improve their understanding of Linguistics as a subject. The course will open avenues for the students to research in the domains of Linguistics by integrating their background knowledge.

Marks Distribution

Mid Term: 30 Marks (Term Paper)

Sessionals: 20 Marks ( Quiz+ Assignment on maintaining a dictionary of Linguistic terms)

Final: 50 Marks (Written Exam)
