Introduction
Endocrinology in the study of various Hormones produced by different Endocrine glands in the body and their diverse functions to the maintain the homeostasis .This is a system which controls body function through hormones. Hormones are organic chemical messengers secreted by endocrine cell into the blood stream. Hormones regulate, integrate and control wide range of physiologic functions. Hormones play a vital role in growth & development, maintain both physical and mental health. Hormones regulate the carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism. Hormones help to maintain normal bone mineral density. Hormones act as regulator to maintain normal serum level of certain key mineral / electrolytes, water balance and also help to maintain normal blood pressure as well. They also have a key role in reproduction & normal development.
Course Prerequisite
Students must have the Basic Knowledge of Endocrine glands , cell receptors & second messenger system.
