  • Solid Waste Management: Introduction to solid waste, classification of solid waste. Collection methods, transfer and transportation of solid waste, type of equipment, recycling, reuse and disposal of solid waste
  • Noise Pollution: Introduction to noise pollution and its mitigation measures
  • BOD and COD
  • Air Pollution: Introduction to air pollution, sources of air pollution, its effects, classification and control
  • Environmental Regulations: Introduction to EIA, functions of Environmental Pollution Council, role of provincial EPAs, Environmental Protection Act, 1977, National Environmental Quality Standards      
  • Environmental Health and Safety

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will learn core concepts relating to the solid waste management system, different kinds of pollution and related parameters
  • Students will be introduced to environmental regulations in Pakistan
  • Students will be introduced to basic concepts of environmental health and safety
