DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

The course offers general understanding of sociology and its’ implications in education.  The course develops insight into the social processes with in educational institutions, and how schools and educational institutions play their role in socialization of the learners and playing effective role in social development of the people in the society.

Following are the general objectives of the course:

  • Develop an insight into relationship of society, community and education
  • Reflect upon role of teachers in developing effective communities through education
  • Critically analyze the role of social factors in developing meaningful education
  • Learn the mechanics of community engagement for the educational awareness in masses

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

After Completion of the course, the students will be expected to:

  • Discuss relation between school and community
  • Know the process of linkage among the school community and teacher for effective education
  • Identify the social factors affecting education and how it can support the development of education
  • Know the role of teachers and school in socialization of students and development of society
  • Enable prospective teachers to contribute in community work, health promotion activities and endorsement of healthy environment.
