DESCRIPTION& OBJECTIVES

The course introduces students to the basic practical and descriptive aspects of writing and editing for newspaper. The course intends to cover the basic elements of News Reporting, News Writing, Sub-editing, News treatment, Translation, Page Designing, Interview, Monitoring, News Features, Column, Editorial, Letter to Editor, Caption Writing, Head Lines, Pasting, Press Releases and handouts (rewriting), Role of International News Agencies, Page Making and Designing, Head Lines making skills and other technical aspects of writing and editing for newspaper.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

· 80 % class attendance is a must.

· Assignments would not be accepted after the due date.

· Originality of work would be ensured in case of assignments.

· In group presentations, group members have to divide the sub-topics in consultation

            with the teacher.
