Course Introduction

Plant maintenance is defined as a set of activities that are necessary to keep machinery, parts & types of equipment in good operating conditions to avoid production stoppage and loss. Plant maintenance-methods, strategies, and practices used to keep an industrial factory running efficiently.It includes anything from regular checks of equipment to make sure they are functioning properly, to cleaning garbage bins.The general aim of plant maintenance is to create a productive working environment that is also safe for workers. 

The primary purpose of this course is to provide students with a broad understanding of  basics and  operational techniques of industrial plant maintenance. The course has been divided into  following parts; equipment installation, oraganization and controls of maintenance, computer applications in plant maintenence, maintenance of plant facilities and servicing equipments and lubrication systems. Specific objective of this subject is to enable students to comprehend different types of maintenance, cost control & maintenance and the application of computer in
maintenance.
