The course is designed to introduce the students to basic sociological concepts and to get familiarity with the overall discipline. The focus of the course shall be on basic concepts like the scope and significance of Sociology, How Sociology is related as well as distinct from other social sciences. It focuses on the constituent parts of the society i.e. social systems and structures, socio-economic changes, and social processes. This will also give an understanding of the Culture, elements of culture, and the relationship between culture and personalities. The course will provide the due foundation for further studies in the field of sociology.
