This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the principles and practices of strategic human resource management. Students will be introduced to key frameworks, theories, and constructs in the field. We will examine current issues and debates in the field to identify how human resource practices can increase both employee well-being and organisational effectiveness. Moreover, this course aims to develop students’ abilities to analyse modern organisations’ human resource systems from a strategic perspective. At the completion of the course, students should be familiar with key human resource theories and practices and should be able to examine the fit between these practices so as to influence strategic decision making within an organisation.
