Course Discription:
The Course is designed to enable the students to know about Land Revenue Act (1967) and Punjab Tenancy Act (1887). The former deals with the appointments and powers of certain Revenue Offices. It also deals with the Preparation of Record of Rights and Periodical Records and assessment and collection of Land-revenue.
The Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967is legislated to consolidate and amend the laws relating to the making and maintenance of records-of-rights, the assessment and collection of land-revenue, the appointment and functions of Revenue Officers and other matters connected with the Land Revenue Administration in the state, or incidental thereto.
Pakistan being a country where its economey is more dependent on the agricultural produce. Land Revenue is the part of production which government receives from the landlord on the grounds of its superior owner. Government may receive maximum ¼th of the total production after deducting the expenses or costs. Moreover the LandRevenue Act 1967 is applicable over all the province of punjab except PATA.
This law not only provides the mecanism of the assessment of the land revenue but also it provides the procedure for the collection of land revenue. It also provides the regulating authorities for the administration and collection of land revenue. Moreover it also provides a redressal mechanism for the greviances of the land lords in relation to certain disputes relating to the agricultural land and agricultural produce. Under the provisions of this law government has been authorised to devide the territories of the province for the purpose of administration and collection of land revenue.
