Introduction and objectives

Mercantile law is a branch of law, That broad area of the law (also called commercial law), statutes, cases and customs which deal with trade, sales, buying, selling, transportation, contracts and all forms of business transactions.

The course "mercantile law" has been designed:
• To introduce the students to the partnership Act 1932.  and the negotiable instruments Act 1881.
• To clearly show the importance of both the Acts which cannot be undermined in this present advanced world.
• To show The working of the formar that deals with the definition and clauses of partnership. Moreever, it deals with the rights and liabilities of partners, its dissolution and winding up with consequences thereof.
• To explain The lather which deals with the negotiable instruments known as promissory note, bill of exchange and cheque and then their importance in daily mercantile life.
• To make the students quite friendly with  the complete subject.

The students successfully completing this course will be able to:
• Identify and explain the significance of partnership, negotiable instruments, and related concepts.
• Embrace various types of partnerships and partners.
• Apprehend the rights, duties, and liabilities of a partner and its extent.
• Comprehend creation, management, and dissulution of partnership.
• Key out different various modes of payment and their importance and opperations.
• Cover and identify the Promissory Note, Bill of Exchange, Cheque; their functions and parties.
• Encompass the procedures for payment, presentment, noting and protest.
